The equipment includes fuel storage and dispensing tanks, belt conveyors, whereby the granules are dispensed and transported to the gasification reactor, which consists of two low and high-temperature zones. Each zone has a controlled air supply to adjust for fluctuations of the fuel properties (moisture level, ash, fraction, etc.), which may affect the oxidation and regeneration reaction. The primary cooling of the gas takes place in air heat exchangers, and the secondary cooling is performed in water heat exchangers. The equipment also includes filtration systems, which allows removing tar, ash and other particles from the gas and prevent water condensation. After that, the gas enters the combustion engine connected to the generator. During the generator work process, “green” electricity is produced.
The automation system allows automatic control of the equipment. One of the components of the system is a large number of frequency regulators, connected into a Profibus network for control and data exchange purposes. The visualization system, which is a part of the system, is based on Siemens TIA Portal software and allows operators to control and manage the process with the help of a personal computer.
The main components of the system:
– input and output controller Siemens Simatic S7-400 (414-3 DP);
– graphic panel Siemens PT1200 Comfort;
– STEP7 programming software and visualization software Siemens TIA Portal v.11.
It is possible to access the software remotely by a VPN Connection. It allows a timely analysis and making changes to the software.
