Wastewater
Since mid-2016, a series of control systems for 15 water treatment plants has been created, both in Latvia and abroad. The plants can be both of modular type and involving the construction of the fundamental structures.

The function of the balance reservoir is to collect waste water and further feed it to the floatation unit with the addition of chemical agents. The sewage regulator can also serve as a surge capacity for holding additional waste water or return flows from the floatation in case of insufficient water treatment quality.
The chemical agents consist of ferric chloride, soda solution and polymer solution. The dosing rate of ferric chloride agent depends on the sludge consumption, the dosage rate of the soda solution depends on the pH level of the waste water measured by a pH sensor. The station for polymer preparation serves for continuous preparation of the polymer solution (polyelectrolyte) from polymer granules. The dosage rate of the polymer depends on the flow of waste water registered by the flow meter. Then the chemical agents are mixed and fed to the floatation unit in the required amount. The sludge is collected with rakes from the surface of the floatation unit into the sewage regulator. The settled sludge is periodically removed by a drainage valve.
Each station is equipped individually. The arrangement of the equipment depends on multiple factors, starting from the condition of the waste water to the client’s needs and personal wishes.
The resulting automation system provides full automatic control of the station. Control and the necessary functioning set-up are performed by the service personnel on site or using remote access through VPN Connection.
The system is implemented on the basis of Siemens TIA Portal software.
The main components of the system are:
– Siemens S7-1200 controller with a set of inputs and outputs
– TP700 Comfort graphic panel
– Scada visualisation system on the basis of Siemens WinCC
